Being Wise About Your Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth, or your third set of molars, are commonly the cause of problems for many adults. Wisdom teeth come in typically between the ages of 17 and 25, although in 35% of the population they do not develop at all.

scanLack of space can cause wisdom teeth to come in at odd angles, or they may become impacted, affecting other teeth around them.  If you or your children have regular checkups with your dentist, chances are that he or she is already monitoring the wisdom teeth, and will make suggestions for treatment when you need them.  If you’ve changed dentists or haven’t seen one regularly, it’s a good idea to inquire about wisdom teeth.

It’s much easier to spot problems with wisdom teeth early, and deal with them then, rather than to wait until a tooth becomes impacted or an infection or other problems occur. For some people, wisdom teeth create no problems.  However,  if you want to be wise about your wisdom teeth, it’s important to consult your dentist. Ask our expert, click here.
