February Is National Children’s Dental Health Month

YOUTH_SUPERSMILE__POSTER_TABYou want your child’s teeth to last a lifetime. So does Charlotte Dentistry®.

That’s why Charlotte Dentistry is an active participant in the National Children’s Dental Health Month, an annual program sponsored by the American Dental Association.  This year’s NCDHM   campaign features the slogan “Join the Super Smile Team!” The campaign highlights the McGrinn Twins, Flossy and Buck, along with their best friends and next-door neighbors Den and Gen Smiley and K-9 the Dog, fighting for good oral health and a super smile.  The preteen/teen super heroes are smiling because they fought for great oral health and a super winning smile.

What’s the ultimate goal of the campaign?  Encourage kids to brush twice a day for at least two minutes each time.

The campaign focuses on fun and offers a variety of activities for children of all ages to learn more about good dental health. We believe this is one of the most important projects of the year:  Good dental hygiene habits are most successful if they are taught early, and how a child’s teeth are cared for can lay the foundation for a lifetime of good dental health.

Charlotte Dentistry’s practice emphasizes children’s dental health, and we strongly encourage parents to take full advantage of the expertise of our staff.  We can help you with issues relating to children and their lives from infants through teens, including:

  • When should I bring my child in for a first dentist visit?
  • Is taking care of baby teeth that important, since kids lose them anyway?
  • When should a child stop thumb sucking?
  • How do I teach my child to brush?
  • What do I need to know about dental sealants?
  • When should a child start flossing?
  • What happens if my child gets a tooth knocked out?
  • In which sports should my child use a mouth protector?
  • If my child needs braces, should I go with traditional wire ones or the new clear ones like Invisalign?

Charlotte Dentistry answers these questions for our patients every day, and we’re more than happy to help with any questions you may have. In fact, our staff has extensive experience with children of all ages, and we understand how to answer their questions directly and make them feel more at ease about dental procedures.  We have particular expertise with Invisalign clear braces, since Charlotte Dentistry is the top Invisalign provider in the Carolinas.

Call to schedule a checkup for your child, or use the “Ask The Expert” feature of our website to get your questions answered.  You can also ask questions through our Facebook page or Twitter account, or just call us.  Searching this blog will also provide you with a number of answers to many children’s dental issues.

Making sure your child has the best possible dental care is one of the main reasons we’re here.  We can help provide you and your family with dental care from the time your children are toddlers through adulthood.  We’re now on our third generation of patients.

Bring your whole family to one convenient location for all their dental needs.
